# Creating an Order

## In this article, you will learn how to create a new order.

## Creating an Order

Click on **Orders** in the top menu bar, then click the **New Order** button.

There are two ways to submit an order:

1. Upload a document, like a purchase order or bill of lading, with your order details, and our system will turn that file into an order.

2. Type your information into the order fields.

To use option one, upload the document containing your delivery information, and our system will automatically create your order in seconds.

Please look over the order our system created and either **Skip Import** or **Accept and Continue.** If you accept, the information will pre-populate into the order form. You will be directed to the next section, which may require additional information.

To use option two, fill out the **Order Information** fields however you want to customize them. Complete the **Pickup** fields. Be sure to include any pickup notes that will help the driver get what they need quickly. Click **Next** to continue.

A progress bar at the top will allow you to track your progress through each section of the order form.

As you complete each section of the order form, the system automatically saves your entries in real time. You can leave and return later, and all your progress will remain. To continue placing any partially completed orders, click **Saved Orders** on the dashboard and continue where you left off.

Next, you will enter the **Drop-Off** information. Just like the pickup information section, you will complete all the fields listed for the drop-off. This part of the form contains **Billing Notes** (optional), where you can enter a PO or project number, or other identifying information.

Once you complete this section, we will begin estimating the price. Click **Next** to continue.

Then, choose the **Vehicle Type** you need. You can also click **Show Vehicle Details** to see descriptions of items that would fit in each vehicle type. You will be shown the best vehicle choice based on the estimated weight. Click **Next** to continue.

Next, you can select from the list of **Optional Add-Ons** to make the un/loading and delivery process easier. Click **Next** to continue.

Next, choose the **Delivery Option** you’ll need. For more details on the different service levels, [see this article](https://support.dispatchit.com/en/articles/8654538-types-of-delivery-services-available). Click **Next** to continue.

Lastly, you will be able to review the **Order Summary** before submitting it.

If you want to add a customer or other additional contacts who wish to receive order notifications, fill out their **SMS Phone Numbers** and/or **Email Addresses**.

_Note: If this is a multi-stop order, anyone listed in the **Additional Notifications** will receive notifications for all drop-offs that are done._

When everything is filled out, click the **Submit Order** button. Your order will be sent to the available drivers.
